SCFA Core Lab Director
Chad Immoos
Dr. Immoos is a professor in the Chemistry & Biochemistry Department department of the College of Sciences and Math (COSAM) at Cal Poly. Prior to joining Cal Poly, he completed his PhD at U.C. Irvine and postdoctoral fellowship at Duke University, primarily focused on analytical chemistry. His lab conducts short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) analysis in collaboration with the Cal Poly Metabolomics Service Center.

Rob Fanter
Rob is the senior analytical instrument technician for the Cal Poly Metabolomics Service Center. His areas of expertise include LC-MS/MS method development, QA/QC, and instrumentation maintenance and repair. Prior to joining Cal Poly in 2017, he managed the proteomics core facility at Children's Hospital Los Angeles and oversaw the analytical instrument lab at the Oak Crest Institute of Science.

Dr. Michael La Frano
Dr. La Frano is an associate professor in the Food Science and Nutrition department of the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Science (CAFES) at Cal Poly. Prior to joining Cal Poly, he completed his PhD in Nutritional Biology and postdoctoral fellowship at U.C. Davis, primarily focused on analytical chemistry and metabolomics. His research focus is metabolic response to nutrition and disease using a variety of metabolomic methods, as well as the profiling of beneficial components of food.
